The CooperTown Cafe

Mississippi blues and good ole’ & rsquo; comfort food simply seem to go together. They certainly work out together at Coopertown Café, a restaurant situated in Hattiesburg, run by native Brookhaven siblings, Cameron and Doyce Cleckler. “& ldquo; We come from a cooking family,” & rdquo; stated proprietor, Cameron Cleckler. Their grandparents, Houston and Gladys Jordan, opened up The 84 Dairy Spin in the 1960s.

Not just are the food and music southern, yet the décor is. Each tabletop screens a motif, whether it be “& ldquo; Opted for the Wind” & rdquo; or & ldquo; Southern Miss. & rdquo; Camp Shelby is also represented. “& ldquo; Every tabletop is an initial that we made ourselves,” & rdquo; said C. Cleckler. The café has a laid-back feeling. The owner described the ambience as “& ldquo; really laid back & rdquo; – and & ldquo; laid-back dining & rdquo;-- the excellent ambience for the smooth, silky blues. A quote in the colorful Coopertown Café menu reviews, “& ldquo; Food performed with love by people that love food.”
